Effective September 11, 2007, the OCSD Board approved a policy changing the methodology for calculating sewer service capacity charges. Capacity charges will be based on projected flow, instead of water meter size, by converting flow to Equivalent Residential Units (ERUs).
For example, a single family is assigned 1 ERU (at 400 gallons per day), and projected flows from new developments will be converted to ERUs and then multiplied by a unit capacity charge.
The capacity Charges Connection Certificate and OCSD Average Wastewater Flows are helpful tools for calculating capacity charges according to the new policy.
